Andrea Wong
CoBank Colorado Women’s Open second-round co-leader Andrea Wong

Ladies European Tour rookie Andrea Wong of San Francisco wasted no time resuming where she left off Wednesday by birdieing her first five holes in route to a 4-under par 68 to share the lead with Liz Breed of Waynesboro, Pa. at 10-under 134 through the first two rounds of the $150,000 CoBank Colorado Women’s Open at Denver’s Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

Breed, who played her collegiate golf at the University of Kentucky, fired her second consecutive 5-under 67 to share the top spot with Wong.

Also posting a 5-under 67 and moving into solo third is local favorite Jennifer Kupcho of Westminster. Kupcho, now the world #3 ranked amateur and a Wake Forest University senior, finished T2 and low amateur in 2014 the last time she played in the championship.

Alone in fourth place is Gabrielle Shipley of Hastings, Mich. (6-under 138). Shipley was the medalist at the NCAA D-II national finals held at CommonGround Golf Coursen Aurora in 2016.

In the low amateur competition, Kupcho (-8, 136) enjoys an eight-stroke lead over 2016 low amateur champion Jessica Dreesbeimdieke of Juno Beach, FL (E, 144) who plays for the University of Denver.

In the pro-am competition, Teams Beck/Greenblatt and Danielson/Bender both posted superb rounds of 11-under 61 to share the lead at 18-under 126 total. In third, just one stroke back is the team of Fears/Kris.

In total 47 players from the championship field made the cut at 5-over par 149 or better, and 13 pro-am teams made the cut at 11-under 133 or better for the final round. The winning professional will take home $50,000 first prize, the largest non-LPGA winner’s check in the country. The winning pro-am professional will add $2,800 to her championship earnings.
