Haymaker Golf Course–a Place to Call Home

As dusk falls on a summer evening in the Yampa Valley, two resident eagles swoop over the native grasses lining the fairways at the Haymaker Golf Course. After the slew of golfers leave for the day, the course returns to a hotbed for wildlife, which call the course and its surrounding ranchlands home.

Consistently voted one of the top courses to play in Colorado, Haymaker attracts players from across the state and beyond because of its spectacular mountain vistas. The 18-hole championship course entered its third decade last year and has remained true to the vision of a Scottish-style links, which embraces the native landscape.

Haymaker lies at the entryway to Steamboat Springs, a mountain town, which lures guests with its outdoor playground and infamous warm welcome. The scenic valley is peppered with places to stay from hotels to upscale rental properties, offering all the amenities visitors need to make themselves at home for a weekend, a week or a whole summer.

Haymaker Golf Course - Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Last year, Colorado native Cody Hasten took over the reigns as the head PGA professional at Haymaker. Reared on the Front Range, he’d had vacationed in Steamboat Springs for years with his family and wife Annie. His goal is to make every guest at Haymaker feel at home.

Owned by the City of Steamboat Springs, the 233-acre course offers at least four sets of tees per hole, playing from 5,059 to 7,308 yards. Large greens and gentle undulations create an unbeatable playing experience for golfers of all abilities. Players can hit balls on the range, opt to walk or ride, and play nine or 18 holes – to suit time constraints for those who wish to pack in everything Steamboat has to offer. Golfers under 12 years old, play for free with a paying adult and the full service professional shop offers rental clubs of all sizes.

Make the most of the Haymaker experience and stay for a cocktail and a bite to eat at the Haymaker Patio Grill. Nowhere in town has a better view of the sun setting on a place where eagles and elk like to call home.
