Easy Distance from Tour Edge

The Tour Edge Hot Launch 2 #6 Iron-Wood

Tour Edge, founded by former Florida Southern golfer David Glod in 1986, scored its first significant success with the Lift-Off Iron-Wood in May 1999.

In the 17 years since the souped up, long iron-leaning, hybrid-type club appeared, the Batavia, I’ll.-based company has introduced six updated versions: the acclaimed Bazooka JMax which was followed in turn by the Bazooka JMax QL, Bazooka JMax Gold, Bazooka Platinum and, toward the end of 2014, the first Hot Launch Iron-Wood.

The newest – the Hot Launch 2 Iron-Wood – debuted earlier this month. The Hot Launch 2 is available individually, or as part of a full set priced at $500 (yes, Tour Edge is once again offering top-class equipment at strangely low-ball prices; something it plainly does better than anyone else.)

Like its predecessors, the Hot Launch 2 is designed to help mid-high handicap golfers get the ball airborne easily, bring more long par 4s and short par 5s within reach of two shots, and get the ball to come down gently near the pin (sounds like a tough ask for the average golfer perhaps, but these clubs certainly facilitate such a flight).

“The success of our Iron-Woods can be attributed to how easy they are to hit and control,” says Glod. “With 17 years under our belts designing iron-woods, we are at a point in the club’s life where it’s at peak performance and has a reputation all on its own. It was just a few years ago that we started making the iron-wood available as a combo-set and saw a resurgence in popularity. “

The Hot Launch 2 Iron-Wood clubhead is constructed from 450 SS hyper steel and features a thin, forged face that Tour Edge says gives it more spring-like effect and, consequently, distance. The club is also engineered to be very forgiving thanks to the face’s variable thickness.

Rather than having a tungsten sole weight like a couple of former Tour Edge Iron-Woods, the Hot Launch 2 features a heavy sole and hyper-steel body that gives the club both a high MoI and deep CG that enable game-improvers to get the ball up and flying straight, even on poor strikes.
