At the first-ever Class 3A Girls State Golf Tournament, Holy Family freshman Hailey Schalk dominated the field at The Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield, shooting an opening-round 6-under-par 65 and battling fierce winds to card a 74 on day two.

Her team, the Tigers, in its first year of existence, finished second to Colorado Academy, which had won the Class 4A Championship last year. Caroline Kneen and sisters Caroline and Marie Jordaan paced the Mustangs.

Senior Lauren Lehigh held off teammate Aili Bundy and Glenwood Springs High School’s Lauren Murphy to win the 4A Championship at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie by one stroke.

Lehigh, Bundy and Hannah Doran (+26)—all of whom place in the top 10—paced the Indians, who finished 27 strokes ahead of Windsor HS (+70) and 42 ahead of third-place Glenwood Springs and Golden (+85).

+10 (defeated Jenna Chun of Highlands Ranch on third playoff hole)
Team Champions: Ralston Valley High School

After trading the lead with Amelia Lee of Rock Canyon throughout the second round, Grandview senior Amy Chitkoksoong found herself tied with Highlands Ranch junior Jenna Chun at 10-over par at the end of 36 holes. Three holes into the playoff at The Club at Rolling Hills in Golden, the left-handed Chitkoksoong knocked in a bogey putt to seal the title.

Trailing by five strokes at the beginning of the second round, Arvada’s Ralston Valley High rallied to win the team competition with a strong grouping of scores from Jordan Remley (+12), Lexi Mueldener (+14) and Sydney Eye (+16). Rock Canyon (+51) was runner-up. Grandview (+67), Arvada West (+69), and Fossil Ridge (+69) rounded out the top five.
