After prolonged speculation, golf’s largest interactive retailer has decided to double its presence in Denver

Much to the excitement of golfers anywhere north of downtown Denver, the travel time to check out, test and purchase premier golf equipment will be cut significantly. Last week, amid looming speculation, golf’s largest and most comprehensive interactive retailer, PGA TOUR Superstore, announced that it will open a new location in the Denver region. Here’s what we know so far:

  • The target opening date is May 4, 2019
  • The address of the new location is 5650 West 88th Avenue in Westminster, which was formerly occupied by Toys ‘R’ Us
  • The space is around 40,000 square feet

The outfit has considered the Denver region an attractive market for such an expansion for some time now. As CEO Dick Sullivan said in a 2017 interview with CAG: Denver is certainly an attractive market with many avid golfers and tennis players, and while I can’t say definitively if/when we will open another local destination, it’s a market where we would love to grow our presence.”

And grow it will. Denver is not the only region in which the retailer has chosen to expand. Also announced last week was the intention to open new stores in Boston, Miami, Sarasota and Austin.

The company’s press release also stated that it “committed to inspiring people to play their best and grow the game of Golf. PGA TOUR Superstore hosts free Kids Zone clinics each month, along with Get Golf Ready Ladies Program and virtual nine-hole leagues on in-store simulators. Its work with The First Tee has impacted thousands of young people across the US, with more then $3 million in contributions to deliver education programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.”

So, not only will the retailer’s square footage increase in our state, but also will its lasting impact on golfers of all ages and affiliations.
