Lake Dillon Arts Festival

The weekend of July 17-19, Lake Dillon is hosting the 9th annual Lake Dillon Arts Festival in Old Downtown Dillon (Village Place and Lake Dillon Dr).

The festival, occuring on July 17th ( 9 am to 5 pm),  July 18th (10 am to 5 pm), and July 19th  (11 am to 4 pm), will feature locally and interntaionally-renowned artistis including Yoram Gal- whose award-winning paintings have been showcased at the Beijing International Art Expo in China. Yoram works with watercolor on paper and in oil and acrylic on canvas. His paintings have gained popularity in United States exhibits as they resemble a unique mixture of realism, expressionism, and lyrical minimalism.

The event has free admission and live entertainment from guitarists Skanson & Hansen. Similar to previous years, the festival is all juried. This means that each artist is hand-selected to make sure their art is unique, first class contemporary, traditional, southwest, and abstract. Visitors will be able to meet the artisits, ask them questions and personalize any purchase.

More featured artisits include husband and wife duo, Kevin D. Miles and Wendy Schaefer-Miles, will feature their unique style- painting on the same canvas side-by-side to show a shared vision. While Wendy uses vivid colors to develop basic painting, Kevin adds the light, atmospheric color and detail. Their work has been featured by the Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts and have their paintings in the govenor's mansion.

Along with the fascinating paintings, sculptures of various techniques and styles will be presented. Including artwork made from wood- like The award-winning wildlife works of Bruce Taylor- stone, bronze- including western, cowboy and wildlife sculptures of Randall May- metal and glass.

Taylor's nationally-renowned wildlife wood sculptures achieve artistic mastery. Each work is finished with colors that were hand-mixed and applied by hand or an airbrush to bring the piece to life.

Randall May works with two-sided bronze sculptures that compare different- yet similiar- historical time periods. One of his most famous pieces is a cowboy riding a horse and on the other side, is a man riding a motorcycle, shown above).
