Coloradans Clark and Cohen Receive Conference Honors

Three years after being named Big 12 Player of the Year, Highlands Ranch resident Wyndham Clark earned the same distinction in the PAC-12.

The University of Oregon senior, who transferred from Oklahoma State University before the 2016-2017 season, earlier this month won the PAC-12 Championship at Boulder Country Club. He led the nation with 69.59 scoring average, and will be representing the defending national champion Ducks next week at the Division I Men’s Golf National Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.

While at Valor Christian, Clark won the 2009 and 2011 CHSAA 4A title  and the 2010 Colorado Golf Association Stroke Play Championship (now known as the Colorado State Amateur Championship).

In related news, Centennial’s Mackenzie Cohen, a senior at Rhodes College in Memphis, received the 2016-17 Southern Athletic Association’s Woman of the Year Award.

The 2012 5A High School Champion (Cherry Creek HS), Cohen recently led the Rhodes Lynx to its second consecutive NCAA Division III National Championship. A three-time All-SAA First Team performer who qualified for the 2015 U.S. Women’s Amateur, she achieved a 3.87 cumulative grade point average and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Music and minor in Business.

She also serves as UKirk Campus Ministries president and has devoted countless hours to community service, including flood relief work in West Virginia and New Orleans.

The Man and Woman of the Year awards, selected by a committee comprised of Summit Management and SAA representatives, are given to the senior class male and female nominees who best exemplify traits of leadership, character, athletic and academic success.
