Gary Player’s New ‘Game for Life’ Video Series

A golf instruction must-have

I first met golf legend Gary Player about 15 years ago at the debut of a new golf course he designed near Hilton Head Island. Charming, affable and supernaturally genuine, Player was—and still is—an open book when discussing golf course architecture, his hall-of-fame career, physical fitness, being tournament tough and building a repeating, successful swing.

It’s that latter subject, the Gary Player swing, that remains intriguing. After crafting a six-decade resume that includes nine major championships and 165 professional titles worldwide, the sweet-swinging South African has a lock on what works and what doesn’t.

“I’ve played with so many great players of the world, from Tommy Armour, to the greatest ball striker who ever lived, Ben Hogan, to all the modern-day players,” said the 78-year-old Player. “I’ve kept my ears open… and I’ve learned so much about the swing.”

Now, golfers have access to the Black Knight’s accumulated database of swing secrets in his three-DVD golf instruction series, Gary Player: A Game For Life.

The series, as the title suggests, is a radical departure from run-of-the-mill instruction videos. Game For Life offers previously untold tips on a variety of subjects including club position, sand play, efficient practice, short game, on-course management and stay-strong fitness—all the things needed to gain control of a game gone south—and much more.

The set is four hours of high-definition content, which can be viewed on a television, computer or mobile device. And because it’s mobile, golfers can literally take Gary, digitally, to the practice tee, green and gym as for up-close-and-personal coaching.

It is, quite simply, a roadmap to improved play. “With all this knowledge, I feel that this DVD can be the best,” said Player. “And I hope it will improve your game.”
