You skipped over the only two that really matter – Denver Country Club and Cherry Hills Country club. I don’t see how you can have a valid private golf course guide in Denver, yet omit the two marquee courses in Denver.

  • John Wayne

Not a bad review of clubs to join that do not require an invitation to apply first. The Country Club @ Castle Pines cost to join is down to $21,000 —you may resign but are obligated to pay monthly dues of about $875 until someone else buys your membership through the club marketing program for a current minimum of $21,000 or whatever price the BOD can change it too without membership approval.

This not an equity club now – though it advertises this – it is the classic Ponzi scheme.

A sticky predicament for many members that are in for a total cost of over $52,000++ total in initiation fees and assessments. The original equity refund was 50% of initiation fee and 100% refund of one large assessment of $13,000— but with the BOD setting the club’s retention minimum at $21,000 and a long list of memberships for sale at $21,000.

You have a “Hotel California” and “Stockholm Syndrome” environment, similar to the Arizona Desert Mountain Golf Course Scam and lawsuits.

The monthly dues used to be $395 and the initiation fee used to be $32,500 with a 50% equity around 2002. Mismanagement and an up and down economy has left the club in a perpetual struggle to cover operating costs and led to the club to essentially be in the monthly membership sales business.

Oh yes it used to be primarily a golf club with a quant little clubhouse for great steaks, wine and beer with a top view. But now it is trying to be everything to everyone – with 250+ “social” members and 395 full golf members and lots of debt for expanding the clubhouse.

On top of that the club is going to vote for an even larger expansion for wedding facilities and pools and tennis courts. Of course the assessment of $15,000 will be voted on!!

All that for a club that cannot manage a waiting list to join for $21,000.
