A really nice course, and a great value! The only thing that would have made the greens nicer would have been if more people had repaired their divots properly -- it was sad to see such nice greens so pock-marked. While the course is rather short, the par 4's can be quite challenging, as the tee shots must be placed carefully or risk being out of play -- Hole 3 caught me by surprise!!

Tramark Golf Course - 08/01/2008 - emueller
It could have been worse, but there were signs that this once was a nice enough municipal course (like the burnt-out clubhouse right near the bayou)... apparently, it used to be longer before the Air National Guard acquired some of its land post-9/11.

Anyway, some of the greens are absolutely horrible, with bare dirt patches, and most are dry and hard. There is very little in the way of services - just a trailer starter shack - but the people are very friendly!

This was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL course -- a real gem here in Eastern Mississippi. Nicely maintained fairways and smooth, fast greens... a real change from the muni's I'm used to playing. The greens were like rolling a ball on felt, but would let a ball stop quick (most shots stopped within a foot of hitting the green). If you're military, be sure to let them know when you reserve a tee time -- they'll treat you WONDERFULLY!!

Not a bad course, with some interesting elevation changes and blind tee shots. Greens were in quite bad (bare) shape considering the time I was playing -- but interesting to play to, as most slope away from the approach angle.

I may be biased, but this course was VERY military friendly -- extremely courteous and has a great military discount. The course was in better than average shape for Mississippi at this time of year (March), but the greens were well taken care of. Rolling terrain all the way around, so quite challenging.

Pine Bayou Golf Course - 03/02/2008 - emueller
Pretty nice course. Fairways were in good shape and most of the greens were well tended. The only minor problem is a few signs would be nice at a few junctions -- I jumped from #5 to #17 not realizing that #6 was in the other direction! Be aware of shot location! Water comes into play on 15 of the holes!

Another Mississippi course in the winter, so another round in dry conditions. Nice course layout with some tricky doglegs. I'm looking forward to seeing this course in the Spring when the grass isn't dormant.

To be fair, I played this course in the winter, so the conditions were a little dry, but the greens were in VERY bad shape and it was a confusing course to navigate, with no directions to tees at locations where the paths branched -- a map on the scorecard would have helped!

This course was a real treat to play... great fairways and greens. And playing the 18th heading to the lighthouse was one of those unforgettable experiences.

A good value, as for right at $20 with a cart you can play in pretty surroundings. The greens aren't the greatest -- and had been seeded poorly when I played in September -- but for a cheap muni, it's fun. If you're just starting out or want to play cheaply, it's great fun, but there's no driving range.

Good golf club, and DEFINITELY a value. When you play it makes a huge difference, as the Mississippi summers make the course rather dry -- but the Fall and Spring are great. While the fairways are fairly wide, there are huge amounts of trees, so a bad miss is lost. Although it's on NAS Meridian, it is open to civilians without a military member sponsor on weekends. With green fees under $20 for civilians, and under $10 for military, it's really a value.
