got the shanks I have been playing for a few decades now and have shot in the high 80’s when I was playing more. I now have a dreaded shank on my pitching wedge thru 7 iron. Can’t figure it out. Any help before I sign up for a lesson would be appreciated

I’ve found that I have a tendency to hit toward the heel (and in the extreme, shank) when I’m reaching, so my first step is to make sure that my arms are hanging relaxed.
With that set, my contact drill is to place a small wooden dowel at the toe of the club on track with my target path, and swing relaxed without hitting the dowel. I’m looking to take slight divots close… it doesn’t help to drill to hit the toe!
With that feel straight, I should be able to place a ball in position and still hit the shots without hitting the dowel.
