CGA Jumps 5 Spots in Boys Junior Americas Cup

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The team representing the Colorado Golf Association posted the second-best round of the day on Wednesday  to move up to 10th place in the standings at the Junior Americas Cup at Isleta Eagle Golf Course.

The CGA shot a 2-under-par 211, which leaves the team at 7-over 433 for two days. Southern California leads with a 416 total in the 17-team competition, which features players from 17 golf associations from the western U.S., Canada and Mexico.The CGA jumped up five spots in the team standings as no Colorado player shot over 73 in the second round.

John Ahern of Morrison (71-72--143) is the CGA’s top individual, sitting in 16th place overall. David Oraee of Greeley (75-69--144) is in 22nd, Cameron Harrell of Colorado Springs (76-70--146) is 31st, and Steven Kupcho of Westminster (79-73--152) is 57th.

The tournament will conclude Thursday, July 29.
