Top Golf Moment of 2008

What’s been the biggest moment in golf this past year? Many things come to mind, but John Hawkins of Golf World says one moment stands out: when Tiger Woods, with a very badly injured knee, willed his way to victory at the 108th U.S. Open.
Two weeks prior to the U.S. Open, Woods was advised to spend four weeks on crutches, then remain inactive for two weeks before beginning rehab. “Right after the doctor tells him this, that’s when Tiger looked up, he looks the guy straight in the eye and says, ‘I’m playing in the U.S. Open, and I’m gonna win.’ Read the entire article and please post what you think is the top golf moment of 2008. http://www.golfdigest.com/golfworld/columnists/2008/11/gw20081128hawkins

Presidents and Golf

As the country welcomes a new president, we thought it would be fun to take a look at presidents and their love of golf. Brent Kelley of About.com Golf wrote an interesting blog post (http://golf.about.com/b/2008/11/07/president-elect-obama-the-new-golfer-in-chief.htm) on the topic, and he notes that “Calvin Coolidge was the worst of the golfing presidents, and that John F. Kennedy was the best. There’s no question that Dwight Eisenhower – an Augusta National member – was the most-dedicated golfer.”
So far the general consensus is that President Elect Obama is a so-so golfer. Check out this YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5vQ2bNmAJY) of his swing. What do you think? I guess he’ll have to prove his skills both on the course and off!

The Grass is Greener...

The Southeast is blessed with beautiful year-round weather. The hot, humid summers combined with mild winters, plenty of sunshine and moderate amounts of rainfall make it the perfect breeding ground for Bermuda grass. Bermuda grass is a warm seasonal perennial grass adapted to tropical and subtropical climates. It grows best under extended periods of high temperatures, mild winters and moderate to high rainfall. Many of the courses on Hilton Head Island and throughout the Lowcountry rely on Bermuda grass in both the fairways and on the greens.
Harbour Town Golf Links, site of the annual Verizon Heritage on the PGA Tour, the highly-regarded Long Cove Golf Club, The Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes, Oyster Reef Golf Club and the Golf Club at Indigo Run are just a few of the courses using Bermuda.
Is there a way to help me line my putter up to correctly?

When putting a method that most tour players use is to pick an intermediate target on the green between your ball and the hole. This may be a spot on the green such as an old ball mark, difference in the color of the green or other small spots that stand out. The intermediate target will be the line that you want the ball to travel on based on how the putt breaks. Sometimes on longer putts you can pick two targets and play connect the dots when you putt. This should help you start the ball on line off the putter and you will find yourself making more putts.
