Heaven knows we all love surprises… especially when they come packaged and delivered. The bigger and more stylish the surprise the better, right?

That’s what’s super cool about a new “discovery shopping service” called BirdieBox. Based in Scottsdale, the enterprising company delivers a “curated box of premium golf, lifestyle and nutritional items” every month, with each package having a retail value of $100 or more.

What’s inside? Surprise! It depends on who receives the gift, which is very much part of the enjoyment and discovery. “The fun part is you really don’t know what you’re going to get,” explains BirdieBox COO Larry Crawford. “You know it’s going to be good, but you’re not exactly sure.”

BrdieBoxes may contain major-brand golf balls, sunglasses, shirts, shoes, hats, books, DVDs, phone chargers, portable speakers and other specialty items. The company personalizes each box’s contents—you’re asked 13 what’s-your-style questions that are the basis for every delivery—then delivers it direct to your doorstep.

Subscriptions for both men and women typically range around $45 a month, which is about half the estimated value of a box’s contents.

BirdieBox also prepares gift packages to commemorate special occasions and celebrations, including golf’s major championships. With The Masters just a few weeks away, the company is currently shipping its “First Major Box” priced at $100 (retail value is $230 or more). Among its chosen contents:
