Klein, Urman and Four Others Take CJGA Haywhacker Titles

Highlands Ranch High School Sophomore to be Connor Klein of Lone Tree defeated CU bound Brennan Dolan of Boulder on the first play-off hole of the CJGA Haywhacker Championship in Steamboat Springs.  Klein and Dolan carded two-day totals of one-over par 145. In the Girls’ 14-18 division, 14 year-old Danielle Urman of Greenwood Village defeated Christina Spinzig of Evergreen by one stroke carding a two day total of 163.
 
Jake Staiano of Englewood won the Boys’ 11-13 division, Nicholas Reisch of Thornton won the Boys’ 14-15 division, Ryan Frost of Falcon won the Boys’ 16-18 division and Holly Schaefer of Greenwood  Village won the Girls’ 11-13 division.
 
Established in 1985, the Colorado Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is the youth tournament program of the Colorado Golf Association, an organization that leads, promotes and supports junior golf activities in Colorado for boys and girls, ages 18 and under. The CJGA conducts junior competitions, the Off-Season Educational Series and serves as a clearinghouse for statewide junior golf. The CJGA teaches the USGA Rules of Golf, and provides volunteer work opportunities.

The CJGA also oversees a number of Developmental Youth Programs that foster and promote the exposure of the game of golf and its inherent values of integrity, sportsmanship and self-discipline to young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the game. We work with groups such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boy Scouts of America, Special Olympics, Open Fairways as well as other organizations and local schools.
