White’s 67 Earns Medal at U.S. Open Local Qualifying

Pueblo, Colo. – Dustin White of Pueblo West fired a four-under-par 67 to earn the USGA low qualifying medal and become the first of six players to qualify for U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying. White qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open at the sectional qualifier at Columbine Country Club in Littleton, Colo., went on to win the 2006 Colorado Open and played in the 2006 INTERNATIONAL. Earning the next two spots at 68 were Dustin Mills of Northglenn, Colo. and local professional Mike Zaremba of Pueblo West. Zaremba’s more recent accomplishments include playing in the 2006 Senior PGA Championship and two U.S. Senior Open appearances (2004, 2006). There was an eight-way playoff for the final three positions at 69. Adam Joiner of Carbondale, Colo. and former DU player Charlie Soule of Denver both earned spots on the first playoff hole. Eventually earning the sixth and final spot was Mike Troyer of Boulder, Colo. 

The first alternate is Jason Allen of Pueblo West who played in the 2007 U.S. Open. The second alternate is Wil Collins of Rapid City, S.D. who played in the 2005 U.S. Open. 

The six qualifiers will move on to U.S. Sectional Qualifying to be held in early June at 14 sites. Columbine Country Club in Littleton will again host one of the U.S. Open sectional qualifiers on June 2, 2008.
